The creature ordered something with an umbrella in it at the end of the world.
This is an Interrupted Unit ( 12 ) — a mounted print base with original mixed media painted directly on top. For the nerds: there is a photo transfer process I'm working on as well for textures and type.
The result is something between a painting and a collage, flat and dimensional at once. Once it's gone, it's gone. We hardly know each other, but I do think this will look good on your wall.
The subject is the Creature from the Black Lagoon, rendered in thick gestural strokes, round blue-tinted shades, cocktail in hand, mushroom cloud blooming in orange and red behind him like a very chill apocalypse. It reads simultaneously as absurdist humor and genuine menace — which is kind of the whole point.

Finish: Mounted on board, ready to hang.
Signed on the front. Part of an ongoing series of Interrupted Units — original works that don't fit neatly into 'painting' or 'print' because they're neither and both.
