In the artist's words

This is a fruit bat eating a piece of watermelon. Fruit bats really look like this. It's mind blowing.

If you have questions about the piece, feel free to message — happy to talk about it.

Robot human hybrid description

A close-up portrait of a fruit bat clutching a slice of watermelon — rendered with enough realism that you have to remind yourself this is exactly what fruit bats actually look like.

The bat's fur is a soft blue-grey, its oversized dark amber eyes catching a single point of light. Deep indigo wings curl forward on either side of the frame. The watermelon slice glows chartreuse and red against a near-black background, the only warm color in the composition.

The contrast is what makes it: something that looks like a character from an animated film is simply a real animal eating fruit. That tension — cute versus creature, fantasy versus biology — is what draws people in and keeps them looking.

This works well in spaces that mix humor with genuine craft: a kitchen, a home office, a kid's room that doesn't talk down to them. It also lands as a gift for anyone who loves bats, wildlife, or the genuinely strange corners of the natural world.
