In the artist's words
This is someone who found a great deal on a retro toaster at a yard sale, and is now finding out why it was so cheap. Does it still toast? Yes. Does it possess you with the ghost of your neighbor's cursed ancestors? also yes. But it a whimsical way. Still not a bad deal.
If you have questions about the piece, feel free to message — happy to talk about it.
Robot human hybrid description
A teal-skinned witch in a wide purple hat holds a cream retro toaster while smoke billows around her — and takes the shape of a skull drifting toward her head. Her expression is less terrified than deeply inconvenienced. The background stays dark grey, keeping the focus on the soft whites of the smoke, the muted lavender of her shirt, and the contrast between the mundane appliance and the supernatural consequence.
The humor is deadpan. The possession is clearly in progress. She is not thrilled, but she's not panicking either — which somehow makes it funnier.
This one is for the person who has a skeleton tea towel, a "but first, coffee" mug that has been replaced with something darker, and strong opinions about thrift store finds. It fits equally well in a kitchen, a home office, or anywhere that could use something that makes people stop and look twice.
