Perfection | 24X24 on Board
In the artist's words
One day humanity will be called to defend the galaxy with battery operated games from the 70s and 80s. Until then we are forced to make due with inferior tech. Also, someone wrote boob on the speak and spell.
If you have questions about the piece, feel free to message — happy to talk about it.
Robot human hybrid description
An astronaut drifts through a deep purple nebula, surrounded by a swarm of golden Perfection pieces spinning off in every direction. In one gauntleted hand: a Speak & Spell with "8008" on the display. In the other: a Simon Says unit, glowing green. The Perfection board floats nearby, pieces already escaping their slots.
The palette runs dark — black and deep violet for the void, bruised purples and cool greys on the suit — with the warm gold of scattered game pieces cutting through like shrapnel. The helmet visor reflects back something unsettling. The brushwork is loose and energetic, with the kind of confidence that makes chaos read as composition.
This one is for the person who grew up with those games and has thought, at least once, about how useless they'd be in an actual emergency — and finds that funny. It works in a game room, a home office, a kid's space that skews weird, or anywhere the vibe is "intelligent but not serious."
The detail rewards a close look: the boob on the Speak & Spell is there. So are the individual Perfection shapes mid-scatter. It earns the second glance.
I mount these prints in my studio. Here are some features of the parts used:
- Archival cotton print
- Mounted to cradled art board
- Board is hand-cleaned and painted
- Hanging hardware included
- Sealed with brushed-on varnish
canvas wrap
